Potomac River - July 15, 2007 Results

Fifty teams gathered for event number seven in the Potomac River Bass Series. A beautiful summer morning was the setting as the summer finish began. Despite the intense fishing pressure on the river, these top notch anglers brought an impressive 33 five fish limits to th scales!! We especially thank all the anglers for the care of their fish. We only had two dead fish checked in and we really want to express our appreciation for their conservation efforts. Way to go everyone!! Another close and exciting weigh-in was conducted under the shade of the tents and the results went down to the wire!!

Congratulations to Rob Grike and Mark Letosky for their victory with a beautiful 5 fish limit weighing 18.54 pounds. Rob and Mark made their debut in fine fashion and claimed the $1,800.00 first place prize money. Great job guys, and we hope to see you at the remaining events.

Terry Whisenhunt and Sidney were leading until the end and finished second with a nice limit that weighed 18.09 pounds. Terry and Sidney have been consistent all year and claimed the $1,000.00 second place prize money. Current Series leaders for the Springfield Toyota Team Of The Year Award, Van Debenard and Timmy Jones, finished third with a nice 5 fish limit weighing 16.50 pounds. Van and Timmy won $600.00 for their effort and are in great position to claim the $1,500.00 Team of The Year prize money, but with 3 more events remaining anything can happen!! The beauty of the total weight system is the possibility of a team getting hot at any time during the season and the positions can change in a single event on a great fishery like the Potomac River. We are looking forward to an exciting finish!!

Dusty Jackson and Dave Estes finished fourth in their debut and took home $400.00 for their 5 fish limit that weighed 15.28 pounds. Way to go guys and we hope to see you at the remaining events. Rounding out the top five was the team of Al Burk and Donnie Robey with a 5 fish limit weighing 14.46 pounds. Donnie and Al won $315.00 for their great effort.

A special congratulations goes out to Richard Garner and Richard Pate for catching the lunker of day, a beautiful 5.48 pound Potomac River Hawg!!! Richard and Richard claimed the $500.00 lunker pot to go along with their 8th place finish for a total payday of $710.00. Nice work guys!!

We look forward to seeing everyone next Sunday, July 22nd for event number eight as this exciting first season winds down and the titles are decided and Fall Classic Championship berths are secured.
